As I’ve mentioned before, I have a bit of a chalkboard affliction. I’m always looking for the perfect seasonal quote for the giant chalkboard in our kitchen and other high-traffic spots around the house, like these. So a few days ago when I scoured the interweb for something that felt just right for autumn, I was elated to find one that captured the season and spoke to my enthusiasm for pirates and the high seas… so stopping at putting it on the chalkboard just didn’t do it justice.

Interestingly, I learned that the quote is part of a sports-themed poem written by the late Steve Sabol “describing the weather as it relates to pro football season,” and it’s been the battle hymn of the Raiders since 1974. Regardless of the context, he nailed it.
Autumn IS a pirate.
