Well, hello there fellow food lovers!
I know, it’s been a hot minute since you’ve heard a peep from The Food Adventuress, but I’ve been nesting and cooking and casually entertaining.
In fact, I’ve started thinking about this season of life (nearly a year since I’ve posted anything food-focused) in restaurant terms: back of house.
That’s the part of the restaurant that isn’t open to the public… or thought of as “not fit to be seen.”

In 2016, we left our 111-year old home of 12 years for a new home nestled in the woods (I call it Firefly Hill).
That first year, we hurtled straight into the house and immediately hosted Thanksgiving ten days later. This is not my first tango with insanity-infused hosting of Thanksgiving… in 2003, I gave birth to our first child and insisted that the Big Meal go on at our house four days later.
The business I’ve been building has evolved over these last 18 months as well… it went from four to 15 team members in that span of time!
All that to say… it feels like I spent a year and a half re-finding the heart of our home and working in the back of the house.
Lately I’ve found myself craving casual entertaining and getting back in the food flow… and it feels pretty good. I’m ready to take up my station again at the hostess stand in the front of the house.

Since it’s been so long, you may have forgotten who I am and what I stand for… so how about a refresher?
What I believe:
- Food is fun… and it’s about more than sustenance.
- We can care for others by cooking for (or with) them.
- Less is more… and good ingredients make good meals.
- Cooking is therapy for the chaos of the mind. A challenging day is best processed while chopping.
There are plenty of places on the interwebs to find better cooks, more complex recipes, gorgeous food styling and lush photography.
I’m just a girl – with a kitchen affliction – standing in front of the fridge looking for something to eat.

Pull up a chair – I love having someone to talk to while I cook, and I will overfill your glass in exchange for your company.
Welcome!
