Last Friday, I had the fantastic fortune to spend the afternoon with two of the most fabulous people ever – my old (as in long-established) friend Lyndi Fultz – aka nwaFoodie, and my new (as in she is receptive to my stalking) friend Jenny Marrs – aka Jenny Marrs Photography.

We were doing a food styling and photography prep session for the Foodie Friday portion of the upcoming Arkansas Women Bloggers Unplugged conference, which will be held August 24 – 26 at the Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View, Arkansas. If you are not registered yet, there is still time – but we only have THREE spots left before we are sold out!
The event is going to be completely fantastic. For those of you who made it last year and thought it was a blast, hold on to your hats (or boots!!) – it’s going to be ten times better!
Our Friday prep session was completely fun and fabulous, particularly with Jenny’s warm, gorgeous and perfectly styled home in downtown Bentonville as the backdrop. Her house made me realize my kitchen is getting all my attention, and I need to focus on a few other rooms!
Here’s Lyndi’s post over at nwaFoodie.com – Food Styling is Really Just Playing With Your Food – with a few of the details on our afternoon. And, suffice it to say that the three of us have some fun things up our sleeves related to photography, food styling, inspiration for women and – obviously – great food. Stay tuned!

Jenny shoots a bland plate of food with natural light. Wait until you see how fabulous that white plate became with a little foodista styling!
In the interim, I’ve already learned a lot about improving my own foodie photos from both Lyndi (better backdrops!) and Jenny (the hand/lighting trick!) – join us in the mountains for some food styling, photography and blogging fun to learn more!
This was the most fun I’ve had on a Friday afternoon in a long time! 🙂 I feel like this was a lil’ preview of the fun to be had at AWBU! Can’t wait!!
Yes! So glad Lyndi connected us! AWBU is going to be so lovely – glad you’re going to join us for a little bit larger chunk of the weekend! Hope you had a great, unplugged weekend. Reconnect soon! 🙂
I went to the Tontitown flea market on Tuesday afternoon and spent $20 on food styling props! This will be a fun event to do every season!
I am SO excited about this little project!! Can’t wait to see your treasures – hoping to find mine this weekend!! 🙂
